The rock guard actually saved my feet on a scree-heavy descent, felt every edge through the sole but nothing stabbed through. Mesh upper breathes well enough that my socks weren't soaked after eight miles.

Rolled my ankle last month on a rocky descent, so I wanted something with more protection underfoot. The ESS rock guard is the real deal, I barely felt the sharp stones digging in. Still light enough that my feet didn't feel like bricks by mile six.

The mesh upper kept every bit of trail grit out, and the rock guard saved me from a nasty jab on a sharp stone. Feels sturdy yet light.
